Dog Beach!!

We have been bouncing around the idea of taking Figgins and Halo to the dog beach for quite some time. There is a designated area just for dogs in Huntington Beach. Yesterday we finally got around to it and we all had an amazing time! As we approached the sand the boys were curious and Halo stopped short the moment his paws hit the sand. At the beginning he was not a fan of the squishy texture. He soon got over it when a cute little little dog ran up to befriend him. Once we chose a spot to settle down on we got the fetching balls out of the beach bag and it was on. Our guys can play fetch all hours of the day, they never get tired of it. Figgins was much more adventurous that Halo (as usual) but they both went into the water to retrieve the balls that Terry thew for them. They made a few puppy friends and were sad when it was time to go. I have a feeling that there will be many trips to the dog beach in their future. We are also planning on taking them to the river soon on vacation so this was the perfect practice.

Weekend Update

Saturday Morning.

This weekend was very relaxing. I feel like we got a lot accomplished and had a lot of fun. Before I left for Megan's baby shower on Saturday afternoon I worked out, did laundry, cleaned up around the house and got myself looking cute for the shower. While I was busys with all of this, Terry decided to give the boys a bath. We used to wash them outside, but since it hasn't been that warm lately we put them into my bath tub. The pups are starting to feel more comfortable in the bath tub. Figgins has adjusted much more quickly than Halo, who is still on the fence about this bath tub thing.

Halo and Figgins taking their bath.

Halo, getting rinsed off.

Halo is still pretty scared in the bath tub but Figgins has a pretty good time.

Fig is more interested in having his picture taken than rinsing off.

Saturday Night.

Saturday night everyone gathered at Christy and Stephens house for Jon Box's "Night on the Town." Since we had not gotten together as a group in a while Jon thought it would be fun to rally the troops and do something fun and laid back for a change. We ordered pizzas, had a few beverages and then went bowling. I had such a blast, I honestly wasn't expecting bowling to be so much fun.

Sunday.

Due to the time change, and the fact that we didn't get home until 2 am from bowling, Sunday was a lazy day. Terry still did some outdoor chores, but the pups and I planted ourselves on the couch and caught up on all of our favorite TV shows. It was a very peaceful day. That evening Terry even made ME dinner!! It was a weekend to remember.

Dogs in Sweaters!!!

The weather is getting cooler and we find ourselves building fires, bundling up in warm clothes and cuddling under blankets. I know that Figgins and Halo have built in fur coats, however, our tile really gets chilly in the winter months. Because I am a good puppy mom, I ordered them some sweaters. They look adorable, and enjoy wearing them. I know many of you don’t believe that they really like wearing clothes, but I promise you that they do.

On Thanksgiving we wanted them to wear their shirts over to Uncle Mark, Aunt Stacy, and Jake’s house. Figgins saw the shirts as I was on my way to the garage to throw them in the dryer to fluff them up. He started barking at me and jumping up at his shirt because he wanted it on so badly. He waited by the door to the garage (barking like a psycho the entire time) until I went back in and retrieved the shirts. He sat patiently while I put it on him and then walked proudly around the house. It is almost strange to me how much he likes wearing dog clothes. Halo isn’t exactly quite as enthusiastic, but he and Figgy are a team, so he sports his too!

November Update

I must apologize for my neglect towards this blog. My camera memory card has been “misplaced.” I often wonder how I achieve such randomness. I am fairly certain that I will be getting a new one soon, so the logging of my recipes will begin again shortly. I am trying something new tonight, so I have borrowed one of Jon Box’s memory cards.

Almost everything seems to be going right lately. Many of my family and friends know of my recent struggles with General Motors, having bought a defective Saturn. When a 2008 Vue ends up in the shop 7 TIMES for the same problem….well you can imagine my annoyance and frustration. We demanded that GM buy our Vue back from us and with no lawyers involved, it actually happened! We purchased a new Rav4 and have been happily driving since. The puppies are really comfortable in the far back area and traveling with them has been a breeze.

My little brother, Derrick just bought his first home. He is only 23 years old, has an awesome engineering job and is really moving in the right direction. My parents are flying out from Chicago to help him move and organize so Terry and I will be headed down to San Diego to see everyone and help out. Shortly after that we will be headed to Chicago for a frosty Christmas trip. I know at some point that these trips may not be feasible, but I am certainly happy that they currently are. There is just something about being in Chicago with my crazy fun family that makes the holiday for me.

The pups are getting HUGE, 41 and 43 pounds. They are too much fun, I adore spending my days with them. They spend their time exploring, retrieving, digging holes, and getting into trouble.

I hope this post finds all well and again, I promise to post more recipes soon. I have a “feeling” that I may be getting a new camera as a Christmas gift, so my pictures should be improving!

Best wishes,

Heather

Dogs in Shirts!!!

The boys are growing much larger and I just had to buy them these shirts. I never thought I would be one of those people....but I just couldn't pass them up! Halo doesn't mind his too much, but Figgins LOVES his!! These two are such goof balls, I can't believe how much joy they bring to my life!!
